- Tulum is the gateway to the Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve which was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1987, one of the most exuberant ecosystems on the planet that includes beaches, coral reefs, abundant rainforest, dunes and cenotes.
- The coastal reef works as a barrier where ships would sink if not accessed through a straight line right in front of the lighthouse.
- The Tulum Archaeological Zone is the most representative and famous site on the coast of Quintana Roo, due to its privileged location and the excellent conservation of its buildings and mural paintings.
- The walled city of Tulum is one of the best preserved in the entire Maya area. Its present appearance is practically the same as it was seen by travelers in the 19th century.
- It is the third most visited archaeological site in Mexico, with 1,300,964 visitors, accounting for 12.24% of the visits to archaeological sites in the country as of January 2024.
